Police Investigation into Alleged Incident
The Sarasota Police Department is currently investigating an incident involving Christian Ziegler, a prominent figure in the local political scene. The incident was reported on October 4th and allegedly occurred inside a woman’s home on October 2nd.
Background of the Case
Christian Ziegler and his wife, Bridget Ziegler, co-founder of Moms for Liberty, were said to have had a prior consensual sexual relationship with the accuser, according to police records. However, the accuser claims that on the day of the alleged incident, Bridget Ziegler was unable to make it. Nevertheless, Christian Ziegler arrived at the woman’s home and is accused of assaulting her.
Strong Denials and Turmoil
Christian Ziegler has vehemently denied the rape allegation, asserting that the encounter was consensual. While Bridget Ziegler has not been accused of any crime, the accusation against her husband has caused turmoil. In fact, she was asked to resign from her position on the Sarasota School Board, but she has refused to do so.
Political Fallout
The allegations against Christian Ziegler have not only affected his personal life but also his political standing. Several prominent Republican figures, including Governor Ron DeSantis, Senators Rick Scott and Marco Rubio, U.S. Representative Matt Gaetz, and Florida’s Republican House and Senate leaders have all called for Ziegler’s resignation.
Ongoing Investigation
The Sarasota Police Department has not yet provided an update on the progress of the investigation or whether Christian Ziegler has been charged with a crime. As of December 13th, no charges have been filed against him.
Future Vote on Removal
The situation has prompted the Sarasota School Board to hold a second vote in the future to determine whether Christian Ziegler should be permanently removed from his position. The outcome of this vote will have significant implications for Ziegler’s future.
