Austin Recovers Well from Emergency Procedure
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has been discharged from the hospital after being admitted to the intensive care unit earlier this week. The Pentagon confirmed that Austin left Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon and has resumed his full functions and duties.
Under General Anesthesia for Emergent Bladder Issue
Austin underwent a non-surgical procedure to address an “emergent bladder issue” and was placed under general anesthesia on Monday. This incident led to the cancellation of his planned trip to Brussels.
Austin’s Third Hospitalization Since Prostate Cancer Diagnosis
This hospitalization marks the third time Austin has been admitted since his diagnosis of prostate cancer in December. The Pentagon clarified that the recent bladder issue was linked to a December surgery related to his cancer treatment but is not a direct result of the cancer itself.
No Impact on Cancer Prognosis
Despite the recent medical procedure, the Pentagon assured that it will not affect Austin’s positive prognosis for his prostate cancer treatment.
