Disgruntled Protesters Resist Police Commands
In a tense confrontation, a group of protesters resisted commands from officers while chanting derogatory slogans towards the NYPD, KKK, and IDF. As officers attempted to clear roadways, one individual was detained by police. Meanwhile, other demonstrators tried to intervene, leading to a chaotic scene.
Arrests Made and Citations Issued
Following the clash, three individuals were arrested, and twelve others were issued citations for disorderly conduct. Two of those arrested received desk appearance tickets. Among the charges, 31-year-old Fadi Shuman was charged with grand larceny, obstructing governmental administration, aggravated harassment, and criminal possession of stolen property. Sara Elmilgi, 34, was charged with harassment, and 47-year-old Jesse Pape was charged with obstructing governmental administration and disorderly conduct.
Protesters Target Pro-Israel Demonstrator
During the protest, a pro-Israel woman carrying a sign was surrounded by protesters who ripped it from her. Fortunately, the police intervened and separated her from the group.
Background of the Protest
The demonstration was triggered by allegations that anti-Israel student protesters were assaulted on a university campus last month. The incident resulted in two alleged assailants being banned from the campus and a police investigation into the matter.
