McCarthy: Gaetz Belongs Behind Bars
The ongoing feud between Kevin McCarthy and Matt Gaetz took another heated turn when McCarthy made a bold statement regarding Gaetz’s actions. McCarthy, referring to Gaetz as “psychotic,” stated that Gaetz belonged behind bars. McCarthy’s comment came in response to Gaetz’s motion to vacate the House speakership, which ultimately led to McCarthy’s ouster.
Gaetz Fires Back
Gaetz wasted no time in responding to McCarthy’s criticism. He retorted by accusing McCarthy of assaulting Rep. Tim Burchett and claimed that McCarthy’s only assault was against his own fragile ego. The exchange further strained their already troubled relationship.
McCarthy’s Downfall
The tension between McCarthy and Gaetz reached its peak during the selection of a new House speaker. McCarthy took frequent shots at Gaetz throughout the process, resulting in his eventual removal as House speaker. The gavel was handed over to Rep. R-La, as McCarthy’s influence dwindled.
Gaetz and Burchett, along with six other Republicans, voted alongside Democrats to remove McCarthy from his position.
