Minnesota Timberwolves’ star Anthony Edwards didn’t hold back in his post-game interview, criticizing the referees’ performance after his team’s victory. Edwards expressed his frustration, stating, “The refs were bad tonight. Yeah, they were terrible. We were playing 8-on-5.”

Speaking to ESPN, Edwards voiced his disappointment and even mentioned his willingness to accept any fines that may come his way for openly criticizing the officiating. He further emphasized his dissatisfaction, saying, “The cat got their tongue tonight.”
Discrepancies in free throws and fouls called
The statistics reveal some disparities in the calls made during the game. Minnesota shot 15 free throws compared to Oklahoma City’s 22. Additionally, Minnesota was called for 19 fouls while Oklahoma City received 17 foul calls.
Edwards’ impressive performance
Despite the frustration with the referees, Edwards excelled on the court, finishing the game with a team-high 27 points, along with four rebounds and four assists. Minnesota head coach Chris Finch praised Edwards’ performance, stating, “Anthony did a really good job with picking his spots, trusting his teammates, playing clean and quick, getting downhill, putting the pressure on them.”
Thunder’s response and competitive spirit
Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander acknowledged the intensity of the game, expressing his enthusiasm for facing top teams in the league. He said, “It’s why we play the game. You play to play the best teams in the league. You wake up for games like that. You really get to test yourself and see where you are. It was a dogfight tonight.”
