Superstar Sharpshooter Rips Jersey in Anger
The frustration was evident as Stephen Curry left the court after the Golden State Warriors’ loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Cameras at the Crypto.com Arena captured Curry ripping his jersey in anger as he made his way to the locker room.
Curry Calls Out Officiating
In addition to his visible frustration, Curry expressed his dissatisfaction with the officiating. The Warriors only shot 16 free throws compared to the Lakers’ 43 attempts. “You want to be in a place where the players decide the game or it’s consistent on both ends of what you’re calling,” Curry stated, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle. He pointed out three plays in which he believed there were clear bad calls.
Reflections on Longevity and Rivalry
During his post-game interview, Curry reflected on his long-standing rivalry with LeBron James. “Every year we get to do this, the back-and-forth battles, all the Finals runs, to the playoffs last year,” Curry said. He marveled at the longevity of both players’ careers, acknowledging their respective 15-plus years in the league. Curry also mentioned other veterans like Kevin Durant and Chris Paul, emphasizing the mutual respect and appreciation for the challenges they face at this level.
James, who scored 36 points in the game, shared similar sentiments. “It’s something I’ll be able to talk about with my grandkids,” he said, “me being able to compete with one of the greatest players to ever play the game.”
Warriors’ Struggles Continue
The loss to the Lakers marks the Golden State Warriors’ sixth defeat in their last eight games. As a result, they find themselves slipping down the Western Conference standings, currently sitting in 12th place with a record of 19-24.
