The head coach of St. John’s basketball team, Rick Pitino, has extended an invitation to New York Giants quarterback, Tommy DeVito, to attend an upcoming Red Storm basketball game at Madison Square Garden. Pitino made the offer during a conversation with DeVito, suggesting that he could enjoy courtside seats for the game against Fordham this weekend. DeVito, who plays his home games just across the Hudson River, would have a short commute to Manhattan should he decide to take Pitino up on his offer.
DeVito’s Agent Disputes Nickname Claim
In a separate development, DeVito’s agent, Sean Stellato, disputed a nickname claim made by former Giants quarterback, Peyton Manning. During a recent broadcast, Manning referred to Stellato as “Slimy” during a discussion about college nicknames. Stellato called into a radio show to dispute the claim, stating that he didn’t understand where the nickname came from.
Pitino’s Success and Background
Rick Pitino, who is in his first year as the head coach of St. John’s, has led the team to a solid 6-3 start. With an extensive coaching background, Pitino has previously held positions as the head coach of the University of Kentucky and the Boston Celtics. He has won national championships at both Kentucky and Louisville, with the most recent title coming in 2013.
