Alabama Players Prohibited from Watching Film
Alabama Crimson Tide players have been prohibited from watching film on their own in light of the sign-stealing scandal that has enveloped the Michigan football program. The scandal has resulted in a three-game suspension for coach Jim Harbaugh and the departure of the alleged ringleader of the scheme. As a result, Alabama players are taking extra precautions to ensure their game plan remains secure.
Fears of Play Call Stealing
Players, such as wide receiver Isaiah Bond and running back Jase McClellan, have expressed concerns over Michigan’s reputation for play call stealing. McClellan stated, “You know, what Michigan is known for. What they have out there. Just the play call stealing.” Bond echoed this sentiment, mentioning that Michigan was allegedly looking at other teams’ play calls and hand signals during the first eight games of the season.
Preventing Security Breaches
Offensive lineman JC Latham emphasized the importance of taking precautionary measures, stating, “We just didn’t want to take no chances. It’s a really big game.” The Alabama team has a reliable film staff and secure systems, but they have chosen to avoid any risks associated with the sign-stealing scandal. Coaches also informed the players about Michigan’s alleged attempts to gain unauthorized access to another team’s performance database.
Confidence in On-Field Performance
Despite the sign-stealing controversy, Alabama players remain unfazed. Isaiah Bond confidently stated, “I mean, when we get on the field, they’re going to have to play us anyways, so all that sign stealing won’t help.” The team is focused on their upcoming game at the Rose Bowl, which is scheduled to kick off at 5 p.m. ET on Monday.
