Michigan’s head coach, Jim Harbaugh, has denied directing any staff member to conduct off-campus scouting and denied having any knowledge of illegal signal stealing within the program. An external investigative firm reportedly tipped off the NCAA with evidence of signal stealing obtained from computer drives accessed by Michigan coaches.
The alleged scheme involved purchasing tickets to games at various schools and involved a network of individuals who attended these games and collected information. The firm provided photographs and videos purportedly taken by scouts working for Michigan, which were uploaded to a computer drive accessible to Stalions and other Michigan assistants and coaches.
The NCAA investigation is ongoing, and questions remain about the extent of the alleged scheme and whether Harbaugh was directly involved. The Big Ten conference is also monitoring the situation and may take action based on the NCAA’s findings.
