Zuckerberg’s Unconventional Feed Choice
Mark Zuckerberg, known primarily as the CEO of Meta, surprised many last month when he disclosed his new venture into cattle ranching. The tech mogul revealed that he had begun raising wagyu and angus cows on his ranch in Hawaii and had even introduced an unconventional diet for them – consisting of beer and macadamia nuts.
Zuckerberg explained his reasoning behind this unique feed choice on a recent episode of the “Morning Brew Daily” podcast. He emphasized his intention to focus on producing the highest-quality beef rather than commercial operations, enabling him to prioritize providing the most nutrient-dense and appetizing diet for his cattle.
Zuckerberg’s Vision for Quality Beef Production
When discussing his approach to cattle farming, Zuckerberg highlighted his desire for the cows to gain weight and ultimately become the most delicious through their diet. Drawing parallels to human preferences, he pointed out that nuts and beer are both rich and appetite-stimulating foods, making them ideal choices for his cattle.
It’s worth noting that feeding beer to cows intended for high-end beef production is a common practice, as it can help enhance their appetite and flavor. Zuckerberg’s commitment to quality is further reflected in his Instagram post, where he mentioned that each cow consumes between 5,000 to 10,000 pounds of food annually, with his daughters actively participating in planting macadamia trees on the ranch.
Expanding Horizons beyond Cattle Ranching
While Zuckerberg’s foray into cattle ranching has garnered attention, his Hawaii property is not limited to livestock. Reports indicate that he is also constructing a $100 million compound featuring a 5,000-square-foot underground bunker, an escape hatch, and an extensive layout of 30 bedrooms and 30 bathrooms. This expansion hints at Zuckerberg’s diverse interests and ambitions beyond the tech industry.
