Demand for Adventure-Style Motorcycles Spurs New Training Venture
London-based motorcycle training firm, Phoenix Motorcycle Training, is now offering instruction on adventure riding. The new venture, called Phoenix Trails, is in response to the increasing demand for tuition on adventure-style motorcycles. With more and more riders wanting to explore the capabilities of these high-riding, knobby-tired bikes, Phoenix Motorcycle Training has set up camp on the edge of Salisbury Plain, offering riders the opportunity to learn vital new skills on challenging, muddy, and rutted byways.
Phoenix Trails is not only providing a thrilling experience for riders, but also making them safer on the road. The training focuses on techniques that are applicable to both off-road and road riding, ensuring that riders are well-prepared for any situation. The popularity of adventure-style motorcycles has skyrocketed, and Phoenix Motorcycle Training is catering to this growing market by providing top-notch instruction.
Experiencing Adventure Riding Firsthand
A journalist from a local publication recently had the opportunity to try out adventure riding with Phoenix Trails. Equipped with a mud-spattered Fantic XEF 250 and safety gear provided by the firm, the journalist embarked on a day of off-road training under the guidance of the ‘Salisbury Plain Stig’, one of Phoenix’s experienced instructors.
The day started with a warm-up in a slippery field adjacent to the training center. The instructor emphasized the importance of balance, throttle control, and looking ahead. The bikes slid and slithered through the mud, a stark contrast to the smooth roads riders are accustomed to. The goal was to embrace the skids and let the bike find its own path.
After the warm-up, the riders tackled a network of wooded byways, muddy tracks, and wide-open fields. The Fantic XEF 250 proved to be nimble and capable, easily navigating the challenging terrain. The riders gradually gained confidence and took on tougher obstacles, including deep, muddy ruts. Throughout the day, the focus was on finding the right balance between control and letting the bike do its thing.
Preparing Riders for the Challenges
Phoenix Trails caters to riders of all levels of experience. From total beginners to more advanced riders looking to hone their skills, the instructors tailor the training to each individual’s abilities. The goal is to ensure that riders don’t lose confidence and to attract newcomers to the world of adventure riding.
The instructors at Phoenix Trails have years of experience and are passionate about off-road riding. They understand the importance of reprogramming the brain to handle slides and unexpected situations. By providing expert guidance and a supportive environment, Phoenix Trails helps riders become more comfortable and skilled in off-road riding, ultimately making them better road riders as well.
A Thrilling and Dirty Experience
Phoenix Trails offers day-long sessions, starting at 9 am and ending around 3 pm. Riders can expect routes ranging from 45 to 90 miles, depending on their skill level. The groups are closely supervised, with one instructor for every two riders, ensuring a safe and personalized experience. The training is open to riders with at least an A2 motorcycle license.
According to the ‘Salisbury Plain Stig’, the most important thing riders need to bring is a sense of humor and a willingness to learn and adapt. Off-road riding presents a different environment, but with the right mindset, riders can have fun while getting a bit dirty. Prices for the training start from £270 per day.
