Buffalo Wing or Nugget: The Bone Dilemma
When it comes to the age-old question of whether a chicken wing should have a bone or not, two former NFL players have made their stance clear.
In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman shared their thoughts on the matter.
Gronkowski’s Buffalo Wing Advocacy
Gronkowski, hailing from Buffalo, confidently declared, “I know my wings, and this is a Buffalo wing right here,” as he took a bite.
He emphasized the importance of having the bone in the wing, stating, “You gotta have the bone in the wing if you really want to count it as a Buffalo wing. A true wing has a bone in it, baby.”
Edelman’s Nugget Critique
Edelman, on the other hand, dismissed boneless wings as mere nuggets. While he admitted to being a fan of nuggets, he firmly asserted that wings must have the bone in them to be considered authentic.
In a lighthearted moment, the former wide receiver joked about his role as a wingman, saying, “Sometimes I gotta rub down Rob’s big ‘ol mouth. He does the ‘Garfield’ where he just puts the whole wing in and pulls it out with just a bone.”
The Great Super Bowl Feast
The National Chicken Council estimated that Americans consumed a staggering 1.45 billion chicken wings during last year’s Super Bowl. If this year’s game is as exciting as the previous one, that number might be surpassed by February 11th.
As the San Francisco 49ers prepare to face off against the Kansas City Chiefs in the upcoming Super Bowl, the debate over the perfect wing continues.
