The CCP’s Campaign Against Faith
Gallagher, in a recent address, shared a powerful story of a young graduate who vehemently opposes the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) due to his unwavering faith. The student expressed his belief that the CCP is determined to eradicate faith, as it undermines their control over the individual. According to Gallagher, the CCP’s ultimate goal is to eliminate the concept of human dignity and worth, with religion being its fiercest defender.
Crushing Religion and Persecuting Minorities
Gallagher drew attention to the CCP’s extensive propaganda and censorship apparatus, which they use to manipulate information and stifle dissent. He pointed out the millions of Uyghurs and other religious minorities who have been subjected to internment camps, describing it as the largest internment of an ethno-religious minority since the Holocaust.
CCP’s Influence Over Religion
Gallagher criticized the CCP’s influence over religion, particularly their control over the appointment of Catholic bishops through a secret 2018 deal with the Vatican. He accused the CCP of effectively appointing bishops by notifying the Vatican, which he deemed a shocking departure from the traditional process. Gallagher argued that this arrangement has been detrimental to other faiths in China.
The Vatican’s Response
Although the 2018 agreement between the Vatican and the CCP has faced significant backlash, the Vatican recently renewed the deal. The Holy See expressed a willingness to continue working with the Chinese government if they adhere to the terms of the agreement. However, Gallagher questioned the Vatican’s capitulation and raised concerns about the violation of the agreement, citing the appointment of a bishop in a diocese not recognized by the Holy See.
The Opposite of Communism: Faith
Gallagher proposed that faith in God represents the antithesis of Communism. He characterized Communism as a perverted, inverse religion that imposes itself through force and indoctrination. He emphasized that while Communism seeks domination and the obliteration of the individual, faith seeks love, dignity, and the elevation of the human soul.
A Struggle for Souls
Gallagher stressed that the United States’ long-term competition with the CCP is not merely a test of different socio-economic systems, but a battle for souls. He underlined the importance of recognizing the inherent value and dignity of each individual, which faith promotes and Communism seeks to undermine.
