Contamination Concerns
Dole Fresh Vegetables, Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of select salad kits due to possible cross-contamination with cheeses that were previously recalled for potential listeria contamination.
Recalled Products
The recall affects eight salad kit products, including the Dole Chopped Kit Avocado Ranch, Premium Kit Southwest Salad, and Cajun Ranch Chopped Kit, among others. The affected products have “Best if used by” dates between Feb. 3 and 21.
Customer Advisory
Dole has advised customers to discard any recalled products immediately. The company is working closely with regulatory officials to address the issue and ensure consumer safety.
Response from Rizo-López Foods
Rizo-López Foods, the supplier of the contaminated cheese, issued a statement acknowledging the situation and emphasized their commitment to customer well-being. The company halted production and initiated a voluntary recall of all affected products.
Listeria Concerns
Listeria can lead to severe illness if consumed, particularly affecting pregnant individuals, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a food safety alert related to the outbreak.
