New Viewership and Fans
While not everyone may be a fan of the publicity Taylor Swift brings to the NFL, players around the league are embracing the new viewership she attracts. Los Angeles Chargers safety Derwin James Jr. acknowledges Swift’s large fanbase and the support she receives.
“She’s got a following behind her and a lot of people support her,” James Jr. said.
New Orleans Saints safety Tyrann Mathieu understands that opinions may vary, but he sees the positive side of Swift’s presence in the NFL. He believes that the increased attention generates more conversations about the game and benefits the league as a whole.
“I think it’s good for the league. The more eyeballs, the more people you got talking about the game of football,” Mathieu expressed.
For Atlanta Falcons standout rookie running back Bijan Robinson, being a fan of Swift adds to his enjoyment of her involvement in the NFL. He appreciates the impact she has and respects the dedication of her fans.
“Even her being here and being present for the camera of the NFL, I think it’s pretty sick,” Robinson shared. “All you can kinda do is respect it. Be happy for her and everything they’ve been doing for the NFL.”
An Unexpected Fanbase
Chiefs owner Clark Hunt reveals that his team has gained an entirely new demographic of fans due to Swift’s association with the NFL. As the Chiefs reach the Super Bowl for the fourth time in five seasons, Hunt expresses his excitement over the unexpected boost in fandom.
“We have a lot of ‘Swifties’ in our household who are big fans of her, and it’s been fun to see her and Travis’ relationship develop,” Hunt said. “Not only here in North America, but really across the globe.”
Former NFL wide receiver Victor Cruz sees Swift’s impact as a unique and positive experience. He believes that the increased attention on the league brings a fresh energy and encourages fans to delve deeper into the intricacies of the game and get to know players they may have overlooked before.
“More eyes on the league, more eyes focusing on what we do,” Cruz stated. “It’s good to just have new eyes and new energy on the game no matter what form it comes in.”
