Defensive powerhouse Nick Bosa of the San Francisco 49ers has thrown down the gauntlet ahead of the Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs. Bosa’s bold comments about the Chiefs’ offensive linemen have added fuel to the already fiery rivalry between the two teams.
In a press conference on Thursday, Bosa did not mince his words when asked about the Chiefs’ offensive linemen, Andrew Wylie and Trey Smith, who protect star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Bosa bluntly stated, “They hold a lot.”
While there may be some truth to Bosa’s comment, it has certainly given the Chiefs extra motivation heading into the big game. Wylie’s six holding penalties this season were tied for the second-most in the NFL, while Smith also had five holding penalties to his name. The Chiefs as a whole racked up 21 holding penalties on offense, the second-highest in the league.
Bosa’s reputation as a dominant force on defense cannot be ignored. He led the NFL with 18½ sacks last year and earned his fourth Pro Bowl selection this season with 10½ sacks. The Chiefs will undoubtedly have their hands full trying to contain him.
The Super Bowl rematch between the 49ers and the Chiefs is scheduled to kick off at 6:35 p.m. ET on February 11th. With Bosa’s fighting words, the intensity of the rivalry has reached new heights, promising an electrifying showdown on the gridiron.
